Kargil, Oct. 25: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is set to make her inaugural visit to Ladakh on October 31, marking the Union Territory’s Foundation Day. This visit holds particular importance as it will be President Murmu’s first trip to Ladakh since assuming office as the President of India in July last year.

During her two-day visit, President Murmu is scheduled to participate in the UT Ladakh Foundation Day celebrations. Weather permitting, she will also embark on an expedition to the Siachen Glacier, recognized as the highest battlefield in the world. The President’s visit to Siachen is a testament to her commitment and respect for the armed forces.

Preparations for the President’s visit have been meticulously scrutinized by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, Pawan Kotwal, who ensured that all arrangements were in place. The inspection was attended by key officials, including ADGP Ladakh S D Singh Jamwal, Commissioner Secretary Padma Angmo, Commissioner Secretary Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, Administrative Secretary Ravinder Kumar, Secretary Micheal D’Souza, and Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve.

On October 31, President Murmu is anticipated to visit Sindhu Ghat, a location of immense cultural significance in Ladakh. The following day, November 1, the President, who holds the esteemed position of Supreme Commander of the three services, is expected to visit the Siachen Glacier, accompanied by top Army commanders.

During her stay, President Murmu will engage in meetings with the LG Ladakh, esteemed Army officials, and other dignitaries, fostering stronger ties between the Union Territory and the nation.

This visit follows President Murmu’s recent two-day tour of Jammu & Kashmir earlier this month, underscoring her dedication to connecting with regions of strategic importance, especially in the context of Ladakh’s elevation to Union Territory status in 2019.
