Weeklong Celebration at IKMT Honors Prophet Mohammad’s Birth, Embracing Diversity within Islam
VoL Desk, Oct. 03: The Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) in Kargil concluded its Week of Unity celebrations with a grand congregation at Jama Masjid Kargil, marking the auspicious birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him.
Hundreds of attendees gathered under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammad Mohaqiq, Chairman Guardian Council, IKMT.
The weeklong celebration, observed from 12 Rabiul Awwal to 17 Rabiul Awwal, was organized by various wings of IKMT, including Baseej-e-Rouhanion, Musalla Imam Committee, Mutahhary Educational Society, Bazm-e-Adab, Baseej-e-Zaraat, and Baseej e Imam.

In the spirit of unity, the celebration aimed to honor Prophet Mohammad, recognized as the central figure bridging different sects of Islam, as both Sunni and Shia traditions commemorate his birth on different dates. Imam Khomeini advocated for the celebration of the entire week, known as Hafta-e-Wahdat, to highlight Prophet Mohammad’s role in unifying diverse sects within Islam.
Additionally, the Jamiat Ulema Isna Ashriya Kargil organized a congregation to observe the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, following Shia sources and traditions, underscoring the diversity and richness of Islamic heritage in the region.
