Taisuru residents protest installation of transmission line on agricultural land
VoL Desk, June 17: A delegation representing the residents of Taisuru visited the Council Secretariat and Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kargil to voice their demand for the installation of an electricity transmission line on the outskirts of their village, as opposed to agricultural land within the village.
Master Mohd Issa Bakshi, speaking to a correspondent from Voice of Ladakh, expressed concerns over the scarcity of cultivable land in the village. He stated that the installation of a high-voltage transmission line would further reduce the land available to impoverished farmers.
In addition to the limited land for housing and agriculture, the proposed electricity line would hinder construction on the affected land.

Syed Hassan Mousavi, another prominent citizen, appealed to the LG Ladakh, CEC Kargil, and Deputy Commissioner to reconsider the route of the transmission line and relocate it to state land. This change would alleviate the burden on local farmers.
