Students at Phayang Break into School Hall, Engage in Drug Consumption
VoL Desk, June 03: In a shocking turn of events, an action taken report by the school headmaster has disclosed alarming revelations regarding four students from Government High School Phayang. According to the report, these students not only broke into the school hall but also spent the entire night inside the premises, engaging in drug consumption.
In a surprising turn of events, the School Health Ambassador, in collaboration with the Yato club members, conducted surprise checks in every classroom and student school bags during the morning assembly on April 11, 2023. During the inspection, a packet of cool lips and drug paraphernalia was discovered in a student’s bag. The student was immediately called aside, warned, and educated about the harmful effects of such substances on health. Expressing remorse, the student pleaded for forgiveness, and their request was accepted.
However, just a few weeks later, on May 6, 2023, another incident occurred. This time, five students, three of whom belonged to the same school, broke into the school hall by picking its lock. They spent the entire night inside the premises, which was a Saturday. Alarming revelations surfaced during questioning, indicating that four of the students had consumed drugs. Unfortunately, the actual supplier could not be apprehended, as two of the boys were from a private school.

Parents of the involved students were immediately notified about the incident, leaving them shocked by their children’s behavior. Seeking forgiveness on behalf of their children, the parents expressed their deep regret and assured the school authorities that they would closely monitor their children’s activities. In the presence of the respected Headmaster and all members of the Yato club, the students were forgiven for the last time. However, a stern warning was issued in front of their parents that any future involvement with such substances would result in immediate expulsion from the school.
The incident has been reported to the Chief Education Officer in Leh, with a detailed account submitted by the Headmaster of the Government High School in Phyang.
