Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra Inaugurates Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh as Royal Enfield Unveils Himalayan 440
Leh, September 4/ VOL News Desk/ Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS, inaugurated the Himalayan Basecamp – Ladakh Edition in the presence of former MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Secretary, Department of Culture and Tourism Sanjit Rodrigues, and Director, Department of Tourism Tashi Dolma.
The inaugural event brought together riders, explorers, mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts to celebrate Ladakh’s spirit of exploration and the decade-long journey of the Himalayan motorcy
The occasion also saw the unveiling of the Himalayan 440, marking 10 years of the Himalayan. The new motorcycle retains the character of the original Himalayan while receiving a 443cc long-stroke engine, six-speed gearbox, 21-inch front wheel, 17-inch rear wheel and 220mm ground clearance, enhancing its capability for varied terrain and long-distance journeys.
Over the past decade, the Himalayan brand has grown into a global adventure community, with more than 320,000 motorcycles sold worldwide across its generations.

The Himalayan Basecamp seeks to create a shared platform for the adventure community, bringing together different forms of outdoor exploration and encouraging visitors to experience Ladakh beyond conventional roads.
