Nubra, July 30, 2026/ VOL News Desk/ In a significant step towards strengthening the tourism ecosystem and ensuring compliance with the newly notified regulatory framework, the Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh, successfully conducted a Tourist Unit Registration Camp at the Conference Hall, SDM Office, Diskit, Nubra Valley.

The registration camp was organized to facilitate on-the-spot registration of tourist units in accordance with the provisions of the Ladakh Tourist Unit Unified Registration Order, 2026, enabling tourism stakeholders to complete the registration process with guidance and support from departmental officials.

The initiative witnessed an encouraging response from the tourism community, with 46 applicants coming forward to register their tourist units during the camp. The registrations were received across various categories, including hotels, homestays and travel agencies, reflecting the growing awareness among stakeholders regarding the importance of formal registration and compliance with tourism regulations.

The camp was attended by tourism stakeholders from across Nubra Valley, who appreciated the Department’s efforts in bringing registration services closer to the community and providing direct assistance in completing the registration formalities. The initiative was widely welcomed by local stakeholders as a facilitative measure aimed at streamlining the registration process and promoting a more organized and accountable tourism sector.

During the visit, Sh. Ashish Kundra, IAS, Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, also interacted with stakeholders and acknowledged the efforts of the Department of Tourism in undertaking the outreach initiative. The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust and updated database of tourism units to support policy planning, service quality, visitor safety and sustainable tourism development across Ladakh.

Officials of the Department of Tourism also conducted awareness and handholding sessions on the online registration website (www.tourism.ladakh.gov.in) and provided detailed demonstrations on the registration process. Stakeholders were briefed about the mandatory registration requirements, documentation procedures and benefits of registration under the new framework.

The Department informed that the registration camp will continue for another day on 31 July 2026, providing an additional opportunity for tourism stakeholders who could not attend the first day of the camp. Remaining operators of hotels, homestays and travel agencies are encouraged to participate in the camp or register their tourist units online through the official website of Ladakh Tourism (www.tourism.ladakh.gov.in).

The Department of Tourism reiterated that registration of tourist units is essential for ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining service standards and enhancing the quality and credibility of Ladakh’s tourism sector. Tourism stakeholders have been urged to complete their registrations at the earliest and contribute towards building a well-regulated, sustainable and visitor-friendly tourism ecosystem in the Union Territory.
