Inter-School On-Spot Painting and Music Competition Held at GHSS Choskore

Kargil, June 10, 2026/ VOL News Desk/ The Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL), Kargil, in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Choskore, organized an Inter-School Children’s On-Spot Painting and Music Competition at GHSS Choskore to promote artistic talent and cultural awareness among students.

Nominated Councillor Adv. Riyaz Ahmad Khan attended the event as the Chief Guest. The programme was also graced by the Chief Education Officer Kargil, Indian Youth Congress President , Manzoor Ahmad Akhone, Special Officer, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Mohd Ali Tak, members of Village Education Committees (VECs), teachers, students and local residents.

Students showcased their creativity and talent through painting and musical performances. Traditional folk songs and folk dances presented by students were highly appreciated by the audience.

Earlier, Principal GHSS Choskore, Sabiha Saif, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the institution. She also placed several demands before the Chief Guest, seeking support for addressing developmental and educational needs of the school.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Adv. Riyaz Ahmad Khan lauded the efforts of the Ladakh Academy and the school administration for providing a platform to young artists. He assured that the issues raised by the school, including the requirement of learning materials, construction of a compound wall and provision of laboratory equipment, would be taken up with the concerned higher authorities for necessary action.

A traditional local cuisine was presented by the students, Appreciating the initiative, Adv. Riyaz Ahmad Khan announced an on-the-spot contribution of ₹10,000 in support of the activity.

Special Guest Manzoor Hussain and Chief Education Officer Kargil, Sonam Wangchuk also addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of cultural and creative activities in the holistic development of students . They encouraged the students to actively participate in such events and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates among the winners and participants by the dignitaries, who congratulated the students for their remarkable performances and wished them success in their future endeavors.
