VOL News Desk/ Kargil Democratic Alliance on Saturday unanimously elected Sajjad Hussain Kargili as its new Co-Chairman during a meeting held at Highland Resort in Kargil under the chairmanship of existing Co-Chairman Haji Asgar Ali Karbalai.

The meeting noted that the post of Co-Chairman had fallen vacant following the demise of veteran Jammu & Kashmir National Conference leader Late Qammar Ali Akhone. Members of the Alliance paid rich tributes to the departed leader and acknowledged his significant contribution towards public welfare and the strengthening of the Alliance in Ladakh.

During the deliberations, it was observed that the vacant post from the JKNC quota was to be nominated by the National Conference. Accordingly, the name of Sajjad Hussain Kargili, who is also a representative of Jamiat Ulema Isna Asharia Kargil and a senior member of KDA, was proposed by Ladakh Member of Parliament and JKNC President Mohd Hanifa Jan.

The proposal received unanimous support from all members present in the meeting, following which Sajjad Hussain Kargili was formally elected as the Co-Chairman of KDA with immediate effect.

The meeting concluded with participants expressing hope that under the new leadership, the Alliance would continue to work collectively for the welfare, unity and aspirations of the people of Ladakh.

Among those present in the meeting were Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, MP Mohd Hanifa Jan, Representative of IKMT, ASZ Jamat Ahle Sunnat Kargil,Anjuman Sofia Noorbakshia, SEMOK, and Congress President Nasir Hussain Munshi.
