DC Drass inspects healthcare facilities in SDH; Meets various delegations in Office

Drass, May 04, 2026/ VOL News Desk/ The Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) today visited the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) of Drass to assess the position of healthcare services and facilities. He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Drass, Vishal Atri (JKAS) and was welcomed by the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Drass Dr. Sajjad Hussain and other staff. 

The Deputy Commissioner inspected various sections of the hospital including the General OPD, Drugs Store, Labour Room and other units. He took stock of the availability of essential medicines, equipment, hygiene, availability of toilet facilities as well as the overall service delivery in the hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with patients and hospital staff to obtain feedback regarding the quality of healthcare services. Stress was laid on maintaining proper hygiene, ensuring adequate stock of medicines and providing timely medical assistance to patients. The BMO and his team were directed to address any deficiencies on priority and ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the hospital.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment towards improving healthcare services in the region.

Earlier during the day, the Deputy Commissioner met delegations, in his office, from various places including Kharbu, Thasgam, Jasgund, Khiber, Shimsha, Muradbagh and Ranbirpur as well as office bearers of the Pensioners Association of Drass. 

The representatives of Hanfia Masjid also called on the Deputy Commissioner and discussed welfare measures. He also had interactions with the Block Development Office, Zonal Education Officer and the concerned official of Labour Department. 

The Commanding Officer of BRO, Rakesh Rana, also paid a visit and discussed various issues regarding road projects at various loations. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the contribution of BRO towards keeping the National Highway open during winters against all odds and for providing all the necessary assistance to the administration whenever needed.

The Deputy Commissioner also received and welcomed the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kaushal Kumar (IPS) who was on a visit to Drass to review public welfare and law & order issues. He was accompanied by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
