VOL News Desk/ In a remarkable achievement for the Union Territory of Ladakh, Parveen Akhtar, a dedicated entrepreneur and progressive farmer from Wakha in Kargil, has been honored with one of India’s most coveted IARI Innovative Awards at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Pusa, New Delhi. Dr. Nassreen F. Kacho, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Kargil, expressed immense pride in Parveen’s accomplishment, highlighting her as a beacon of inspiration for young women in the region. “Parveen is a hardworking lady whose success stems from her dedication; we merely guided and supervised her along the way,” Dr. Kacho stated. Dr. Kacho also recalled that progressive farmer Haji Mohd, a well-known figure in the district, was nominated for the same award in 2025. Urging the UT Ladakh administration to recognize both at the state and district levels, she noted that their national accolades remove any eligibility barriers.Dr. Kacho extended her gratitude to the farmers and farm women of Kargil, particularly progressive figures like Haji Mohd and Parveen Akhtar, for elevating KVK’s profile on a national stage. She commended the scientific staff, including Dr. Mansoor Hussain and Dr. Nazir Hussain, for meticulously documenting these success stories, which have brought recognition to the farmers, KVK, and the entire district.
