Ladakh – January 17, 2026 – In response to growing concerns from families, Ladakh’s Member of Parliament, Mohmmad Haneefa has provided an update on the welfare of Ladakhi residents currently in Iran, emphasizing close coordination with Indian authorities to monitor the situation.

MP Haneefa, who has been receiving regular inquiries from worried family members, stated that he is maintaining constant communication with India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He has also engaged directly with the Indian Embassy in Iran on multiple occasions—specifically two to three times—as part of ongoing efforts to track developments.

According to the latest updates from the MEA, the situation is being actively reviewed, with no immediate cause for alarm. MP Haneefa reiterated the Government of India’s full commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all Indian nationals abroad. “The developments are being closely reviewed and there is no cause for concern at present,” he noted, underscoring the proactive stance of Indian diplomatic channels.
