Ladakh Food Safety Department Confirms Safety of Egg Samples in Recent Tests

Food Safety Department, In response to growing public concerns over egg safety, the Food Safety Department of the Union Territory of Ladakh has released an update on samples collected during a targeted enforcement drive. On January 28, thirteen egg samples from various brands were gathered from local wholesalers and sent to NABL-accredited laboratories for rigorous testing.

The tests focused on detecting residues of banned antibiotics, including Nitrofurans, their metabolites, and Nitroimidazoles. So far, reports for eight samples have been received, all of which comply with food safety standards and are deemed safe for human consumption. The department is awaiting results for the remaining five samples, which will be reviewed promptly upon receipt.

This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to public health and food quality in the region. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels for further updates.
