Secretary Education UT Ladakh Reviews Schools in Kargil, Launches Winter Classes
Kargil, Dec 27/ VOL News Desk/ Secretary Education UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, visited several schools in Kargil district today to assess infrastructure and initiate winter academic activities.
In the morning, she inspected PM SHRI High School Tacha, accompanied by Hon’ble EC Education LAHDC Kargil Sh. Zakir Hussain, EC Tourism Sh. Kacho Feroz, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Sh. Rakesh Kumar, IAS, Chief Education Officer Sh. Sonam Wangchuk, and other dignitaries. During the visit, she announced the merger of Primary Schools Saitchey and Gongsto Tacha with High School Tacha, declaring it a PM SHRI Model High School, and formally launched winter classes for students.
Later, at Council Model Middle School Gramthang Minjee, Ms. Prabha assured Village Education Committees (VECs) that their genuine demands would be addressed, including sanctioning additional classrooms in the upcoming financial year. She urged VECs to mobilize the community to boost enrollment in the next academic session and inaugurated winter coaching classes at the school.

At Conference Hall Baroo, the Secretary chaired a review meeting with Director School Education Department UT Ladakh Sh. Tsering Paldan, Principal DIET Kargil Sh. S.D. Namgail and the officers of Education Department Kargil, Principals, and Headmasters of Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools of the district. The meeting focused on the recent Pre-Board 2nd Examination, progress under SAMAGRA and PM SHRI schemes, and strategies to improve CBSE board results. She emphasized timely utilization of funds and outlined departmental work plans.
In the evening, Ms. Prabha inaugurated the New Council Model Middle School Tharumsa Pashkum, assuring full departmental support and expressing hope that the school would serve as an inspiring model in the region. Winter coaching classes were also launched at the school.
The visit highlights the administration’s focus on strengthening school infrastructure, enhancing academic outcomes, and ensuring uninterrupted learning during winter months in Kargil district.
