In a historic moment for District Hospital Kargil, Department of Surgery has Started the LASER surgeries, after receiving the Lattest advanced LASOTRONIC LASER Machine.

This Lattest technique is available in only few centres of India. LASER ( Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation ) are Diod Lasers used in the surgical diseases like Varicose veins, Fistulas, Fissures in ano, Haemorrhoids and Pilonidal sinuses.

Laser Surgeries have the advantages of quick recuperation due to very less or no cut, stitches, pain or bleeding.

LASER Surgeries are different from Laparoscopic surgeries. Laparoscopic surgeries are routinely done at District Hospital kargil for the last 8 years for gallbladder stones, appendicitis, Hernias and abdominal and pelvic pathologies. LASER, on the other hand, are collimated, coherent and monochromatic light which is produced by a Laser device and carried by Radial and Bare fibres to the diseased tissues and absorbed in varying rates into specific tissue types. The Diod lasers typically targets the melonin, hemoglobin and Water, causing degeneration of tissues. Diod Laser of 980 nm and 1470 nm wave-lengths are used for Venous procedures and Proctology procedures and is one of the Lattest Surgical technique.

The First case was performed on 6th of November 2024 at main modular OT and was discharged after complete recovery. The Technical setup of the Laser machine was performed by Dr Sajjad Hussain and Laser procedure was performed by Dr Mohd Abass and Dr Mohd Feroz, under supervision of Dr Tsewang Namgyal. Anaesthesia team was headed by Dr Asif Hussain, Senior Anaesthesiologist along with dedicated OT team.

Dr Mohd Abass, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil has congratulated the team for the first successful LASER Hemorroidectomy Procedure and appreciated the team for adopting the latest surgical techniques regularly and making the Department of Surgery District Hospital Kargil as the Centre of Excellence.

The Surgery Department has thanked the Honb’le Lt. Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta, Honb’le CEC Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhone, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Health Sanjeev Khirwar IAS, CEO cum Deputy Commissioner Shri Rakesh Kumar IAS, Director Health Ladakh Dr Tashi Thinles, CMO kargil Dr Kacho Liaqat Ali Khan and Medical Superintendent Dr Mohd Abass for procuring the lattest surgical equipment so that the poor patients of District Kargil benefits from the Lattest advanced technique.
