Today’s Programme at KVK Kargil: Promoting Pulses and Natural Farming Kargil
October 11/ VOL News Desk/The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kargil, successfully organized a comprehensive agricultural programme today, with the Honorable Manzoor Hussain, Councilor for Sodh Constituency, serving as the Chief Guest. The event commenced at 10:15 AM and was attended by more than 200 farmers and farmwomen.The programme initiated with a warm welcome note delivered by Dr. Nassreen F. Kacho, who also delivered an informative lecture emphasizing the importance of pulses in sustainable agriculture. Dr. Nazir from the Department of Agronomy further elaborated on natural farming practices and demonstrated the preparation of Jeeva Amrit, a biofertilizer beneficial for organic farming.Mr. Hassan, Farm Manager, provided valuable insights into crop residue management, highlighting techniques to improve soil health and increase productivity.The Chief Guest, Manzoor Hussain, expressed his satisfaction with the programme and praised the efforts of KVK, despite challenges related to a shortage of scientists and manpower. He appreciated the effective performance of the KVK team in promoting innovative and sustainable farming practices among the local farming community.The programme concluded with the distribution of pulse seeds among the participants, encouraging them to adopt pulse cultivation for better nutrition and farm diversification.This event marks another step forward in empowering farmers with knowledge and resources to enhance their agricultural productivity sustainably.
