SHEENA KING 11 WINS CAPTAIN VIKRAM CRICKET TOURNAMENT IN KARGIL
KAKSAR, KARGIL SEP 17/ VOL News Desk/ The Indian Army’s Kargil Sentinels Brigade successfully concluded the Captain Vikram Batra Cricket Tournament today, with Sheena King 11 defeating their opponents in a thrilling final match. Organized in proud remembrance of the heroic Param Vir Chakra awardee, Captain Vikram Batra, the tournament was held to honor his legacy and inspire the youth of the Kargil sector.
Known as the “Sher Shah” of Op Vijay, Captain Vikram Batra led his men with indomitable courage during the Kargil War, making the supreme sacrifice while capturing Point 4875, now famously known as “Batra Top.” A sports enthusiast himself, Captain Batra’s spirit of leadership and determination was the inspiration behind this initiative.
The tournament, conducted under the aegis of ‘Op Sadbhavana’ in collaboration with local communities, commenced on August 30, 2025, as a part of the 26th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. A total of 21 teams participated in the competition, which was hosted at the breathtaking Saurabh Kalia Cricket Ground at Kaksar, located at an altitude of 9500 feet.

The final match and closing ceremony, held on September 17, were attended by dignitaries from the Indian Army, Civil Administration, and local leadership. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, underscoring the Indian Army’s commitment to community engagement and grooming the future of the region’s youth through sports.
