Ladakh Scouts’ Tsewang Kundan Triumphs in Silk Route Ulta 2025 Marathon
Leh, September 12, 2025: Showcasing extraordinary grit and determination, Tsewang Kundan (BIB No. 172) of Ladakh Scouts Regiment emerged as the 1st Finisher of the Silk Route Ulta 2025 Marathon, completing the grueling challenge in 13 hours, 50 minutes, and 1 second.
The 2nd position was secured by Phuntsok Namgail (BIB No. 173), also from Ladakh Scouts, who finished in 14 hours, 38 minutes, and 14 seconds. Skarma Phurbu Tsering claimed the 3rd position, completing the marathon in 15 hours, 1 minute, and 1 second.
Notably, Tsewang Kundan had secured 2nd position in last year’s edition. His remarkable climb to the top spot this year is a testament to his rigorous preparation, discipline, and unyielding spirit.

The winners were felicitated by Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal (IPS), Director General of Police, Ladakh Police, in recognition of their exceptional performance and perseverance.
The Silk Route Ulta is considered one of the toughest marathons in the trans-Himalayan region, known for its high-altitude terrain, punishing trails, and extreme weather conditions. Kundan’s remarkable achievement not only brings pride to the Ladakh Scouts but also serves as an inspiration for the youth of Ladakh and adventure enthusiasts across the nation.
