Ladakh’s Fahiem Mehdi Wins at Asian Ice Skating Trophy

Dehradun, August 21, 2025 – In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Ladakh’s young ice speed skaters made history on the first day of the Asian Ice Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025, held at the Himadri Ice Rink in Dehradun.

7-year-old Fahiem Mehdi became the youngest ice speed skater to represent Team India from Ladakh, winning a bronze medal in his category. He was joined by Madiha Mustafa 8 yrs and Mehvish Fatima 11 yrs who each won a bronze medal in their respective categories.

This prestigious tournament which features 11 countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and India, over 150 skaters competing. Ladakh’s impressive performance on day one of the competition, which runs from August 21 to 23, 2025, has brought pride to the region and the nation.

Under the guidance of Coach Abbass Nordakh the young skaters from Ladakh showcased their talent and dedication winning a total of three bronze medals on the first day of the competition. This achievement is a testament to the region’s growing prowess in ice speed skating and a proud moment for Ladakh and India.
