Two Dead, Eleven Injured in Road Accident Near Zojila; Two in Critical Condition
All passengers were non-residents of Ladakh UT
Kargil, 16 July 2025 — In a tragic road accident early Wednesday morning, a Tempo Traveller en route from Kargil to Srinagar met with an accident near Gumri, close to the Zojila Pass. The mishap occurred around 5:30 AM and resulted in the death of two passengers on the spot. Eleven others sustained injuries, with two reported to be in critical condition.
According to sources, the vehicle was carrying 17 passengers in total, all of whom were residents from outside the Union Territory of Ladakh. Upon receiving the alert, Indian Army personnel stationed at Gumri launched an immediate rescue operation. The injured were provided with first aid at the site before being shifted to the Sub-District Hospital in Drass.

Two of the seriously injured passengers were later referred to the District Hospital in Kargil for advanced treatment.
Local administration and concerned agencies have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
