Scholarship Delays Plague Ladakh Students, Urgent Action Demanded

Delhi, June 10, 2025 – Students from Ladakh pursuing higher education, particularly those in universities and colleges in Delhi, are experiencing severe financial and psychological distress due to ongoing delays in scholarship disbursements, stated All Kargil (Ladakh) Students’ Association Delhi (AKSAD) in a post on X.

The scholarships, primarily under the PM-USP Yojana (formerly PMSSS) and NSP schemes, have been pending for several months, with authorities citing fund shortages as a major contributing factor.

AKSAD has consistently voiced its concerns, noting that despite repeated inquiries, the disbursement process remains stagnant, and official responses have been largely insufficient. This prolonged delay has not only imposed significant financial burdens on the students but has also resulted in considerable emotional and mental stress.

AKSAD has issued fervent appeals to various concerned authorities, including the AICTE, relevant ministries, and the UT administration, urging them to accelerate the scholarship disbursement process. The association underscores the critical importance of these funds for students to continue their studies without interruption and is advocating for immediate intervention to resolve this urgent matter.
