Karkitcho youth delegation demands road connectivity to orchard land
VoL Desk, Oct. 12: A delegation of youth including Panchayati Raj Institution members of village Karkitchoo reached to media outlets Wednesday demanding development of road connectivity to their village.
The delegation reverberated that if proper road connectivity is developed to the orchard land called Khumbuthang at their village, there is potential to irrigate more land for agriculture and horticulture purpose while also enhancing scope of more land for construction of residential houses.
The road is already roughly developed as small project under Councillor Constituency Development Funds in past years; however, the project was not sanctioned under a proper plan to develop properly, maintained a young resident named Shamim Ahmad.

Initially it was aimed to connect the road to the village which is unfortunately not completed yet. The land is also suitable for production of apricot and apple for which the village is known in Kargil. But unfortunately the water scarcity is a major concern. The CEC Kargil provided a solar lift irrigation pump which the contractor installed at a wrong place. Thus, the pump has no use for now, said Mohd Ali.
โThe future development of the village is dependent on this road which is essential for any type of development in the villageโ, said Shamim Ahmad.
Naib Sarpanch of the village Ghulam Mohammad said that, it has been three months since the allotment of this road is provided to the contractor. But despite of bringing the issue to the concerned authorities no action have been taken yet.
