KVK Kargil-II, ROPCL celebrate National Farmers Day at Sankoo
VoL Desk, Dec. 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kargil II (KVK Kargil-II) in collaboration Rangyul Organic Producers Company Ltd (ROPCL) celebrated the Kisan Samman Diwas/ National Farmers Day today at Sankoo. On the occasion, Block Development Committee Chairperson, Ghulam Mehdi presided as chief guest while farmers, sarpanches, villagers, and staff were present.
Dr. Shabber Hussain, KVK Kargil-II, while addressing on the occasion said that that farmers day is celebrated across the country on December 23 to honour and recognize the farmer as the backbone of an economy of the country and also to honour the birth anniversary of Choudhary Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India.
He further said that the income of the farmer would be doubled when the country complete 75 year of its independence by improving organic farming, use of technology, increasing milk production, use of solar light, and high value horticultural crops.

He also said that in Kargil, Ladakh farmers are now well progressed, empowered and in better position in cultivation of valuable crops with the scientific technology intervention in doubling real income of farmer as compare to earlier conventional farming in the region. Beside he stressed on farm women to think on achieving higher places in agriculture sector as like DFI farmers.
Er. Ahmad Ali Chief Executive Officer ROPCL, addressed in his speech that, the production of agriculture should be in organic way. The use of inorganic fertilizer will be hazardous for health if they (farmers) use in agriculture produces. He also stressed the importance of sustainable agriculture under the remotest farming community of Ladakh regarding the creation and promotion of FPOs in Kargil to produce organic output in bulk by cluster formation.
Mr. Mohd Mehdi, a progressive farmer also stressed upon the natural farming for sustainable farming for the development of agriculture. He also highlight about the progress of his achievements in agriculture and allied sector to encourage and support the other progressive farmers.
BDC (chief guest) said that such program shouldn’t remain confined to celebrations but should show results on ground in creating a better future and also spoke about the importance of Farmers Income and also highlight the Theme, history, significance and purpose of farmer day. He added that, there is a special reason to celebrate Kissan Samman Diwas and this reason is related to Doubling real income of farmers.
The day long programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Shabber Hussain SMS KVK Kargil-II (Zanskar).
