Birth of Israel: Feeling of Liberation for one & sense of Expulsion for other
‘If death doesn’t come from airstrikes, it will come from starvation’, recounts Hind Khoudary, with the World Food Programme in Gaza. The hunger has been used as a weapon to exercise absolute control over innocence. The Gaza strip has been turned into a laboratory for testing weapon’s efficiency and efficacy and made a platform for show off of weaponry by so called leaders at the cost of food and blood of Gazans.Today the West is paying lip service by hoisting Palestinian flags and demanding separate state merely as a mark of symbolism. The same governments that deliver aid to Gaza are also sending bombs and ammunition. This is highest degree of hypocrisy. This is nothing but a part of trade game that is taking place in background in the name of Arab-Jews confrontation. Raising voices that lack political will, will not suffice but the words raised that ensure political backing to Gaza and stoppage of ammunition and military support, definitely will. The exposition of cruelty from Zionist establishment, perfidy committed by the West, display of pusillanimity by Arabs and observation of silence by countries like India that presents itself as a vishvaguru, determine and define the current state of Palestine.
The way Palestinians are butchered today In Gaza by representatives of Jews make one thing clear that they never deserved to get their own state. Their inhuman actions and satanic project executions contradict their claim of right to having their own state and make us believe that the state was hurriedly, concoctedly and clandestinely brought into existence under a big political game rather on religious prophecies. The whole story derives inspiration from Christian Zionism-a political and religious ideology that espouses the return of Jews to the Holy land before the return of Jesus. What surprises me the most is that the prophesy finds mention in the Bible rather in the Gospel. Pro-Zionist Christian ideals trace their roots back to the Puritans in the 16th and 17th centuries. Irony of the story is that Evangelical Protestants support for the State of Israel and their act of evangelizing the Jews at the same time are contradictory. It is pertinent to mention that the core of support for Israel in the US Republican party comes from
Evangelical Christians while traditionally most of the Jewish vote goes to the Democrats.
In his book “Love Israel, Support Palestine,” Nir Avishai Cohen, a major in the reserves of the Israel Defense Forces writes: “Israeli society has to ask itself very important questions about where and why the blood of its sons and daughters was spilled. A Messianic religious minority has dragged us into a muddy swamp, and we are following them as if it were the piper from Hamelin.” It is high time that the Arabs and the Jews realize this alike that they have been drawn and entangled in a labyrinthian. It must be their call to decide about their future. They must realize that for relying on a solution that comes from outside they will have to pay heavy price for. The solution that comes from within will not only be durable but also in the best interests of this land. And towards that end the Jews who are positioned advantageously should extend hand towards Arabs who are positioned disadvantageously and suffering badly.

From voting against the partition of erstwhile Palestine in 1947 and Israeli inclusion in The UN in 1949 to its brother in arms now, the journey of India-Israeli relationship looks surprising if not unexpected. India, that took 42 years to establish formal diplomatic relations with it, now presumes Israel its principal ally in its fight against terrorism. This relationship that assumed formal shape and saw new milestones in 2017 with Modi’s visit to Israel actually traces its roots to late nineties when it experienced the turning point.
The occurrence of 1998 Pokhran test and 1999 Kargil war around the same time is not just merely a coincidence. The two events took shape and materialized under a particular plan. With the execution of Pokhran Test India invited sanctions from the West and The US. When India was struggling and contemplating to adopt strategies and taking measures to ease out these sanctions, Pakistan made surprise and sudden incursion in Kargil positioning itself advantageously in an inevitably serious conflict. It was during this tight situation and sanctions, Israel’s support proved crucial, writes Nicolas Blarel in his book- The evolution of India’s Israel policy, and turned the war in India’s favour. Israel is supposed to have provided GPS and Laser guided missiles besides other necessary ammunition. With this Israel won trust of India and went from becoming opposite ideologues to brothers in arms. India got pushed towards Israel with multiple oblique objectives:
1) The US can have indirectly eye on India without annoying its ally Pakistan.
2) Strengthening Israeli economy with the sale of defense equipment to India, lessening burden on the US and its western allies. Moreover minimizing reliance of India on Russia in terms of defense materials.
3) Polarizing India internally and pit Muslim world against it, thus stressing and straining relations
4) Destabilize, otherwise growing counterweight threat IRI(India-Russia-Iran) Triangle detrimental to the interests of the US and the west in Eurasian region in particular
5) The US’s endeavor to connect and integrate Middle East and Indo-Pacific with the help of two quad groupings. India need to realize that it doesn’t get integrated to this dangerous game and be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.
Today two nation theory is being contemplated to be the solution to this problem. By doing so we will be exacerbating and adding complexity to this conundrum where Israel was born amid unresolved issues under British mandate. This will be akin to creating another potential problem like India vs. Pakistan, North Korea vs. South Korea etc. If West Germany and East Germany was United, Why can’t people of erstwhile Palestine be? It doesn’t matter, if Jews call it Israel and Arabs Palestine. If that is not a problem in India where people also call it Hindustan and Bharat. But yes, it will create hurdles for those who want to evolve their plan a step further to give shape to their interest and aspirations. It will not be easy but impossible neither.
Former Indian PM Jawaharlal Nehru’s articulation of a federal state with both communities enjoying great autonomy with Jerusalem enjoying special status can be taken as a Base for any solution that looks viable, feasible and agreeable to the stakeholders. The Israel-Palestine conflict will continue to find justification as long as two contrasting interpretations of history last and derive strength from being fed and driven by interests that give rise to leverages.
