DIET Kargil organizes UT level role play, folk dance competition

Kargil, Dec 16, 2024: District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kargil today organized a UT level role play and folk dance competition at Auditorium Hall, Kargil. The event witnessed the participation of 12 schools from across UT Ladakh.

The program was organized by the School Education Department, UT Ladakh, under the National Population Education Cell (NCERT). It aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents, with participants having excelled at block and district-level competitions. The UT-level winners will represent Ladakh at the national level.

Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon attended the event as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Director, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, who was the guest of honor, Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho as special guest, Joint Director, Finance, Iftikhar Hussain as special guest, Joint Director Planning Abdul Hadi, Chief Education Officer S.D. Namgyal, Principal DIET Kargil Seyda Banoo, and other district officers.

The CEC expressed gratitude to Principal Secretary, Sanjeev Khirwar, Bhanu Prabha, Secretary of School Education UT Ladakh, and Director School Education Department, Tsering Paldan, for providing such opportunities for students in Ladakh to excel in extracurricular activities. He also praised the efforts of Principal DIET Kargil and the entire team for their dedication to education and for organizing this remarkable event.

Dr Akhoon said such initiatives help bridge gaps between communities and foster cultural exchange between the districts of Ladakh. He reassured the audience that LAHDC, Kargil remains committed to supporting education and its advancementHe described schoolchildren as the assets of future generations and lauded the role plays performed by them on the sensitive theme of drug addiction. He urged all community members to contribute actively toward addressing and eradicating this societal menace.

Director, School Education Department, Tsering Paldan, congratulated all the participants and stressed the importance of events like these under the Samagra Shiksha initiative to explore students’ talents. He also spoke about the severe consequences of substance abuse, urging everyone to take responsibility in combating this issue.

Highlighting the challenges faced after the adoption of CBSE standards, he assured that the administration is fully committed to meet the needs of students and improve academic outcomes. He also praised teachers for the significant improvement in both infrastructure and teaching quality in Ladakh.

Joint Director, Information, Ladakh Imteeaz Kacho, expressed his joy and satisfaction at witnessing the exceptional talents of Ladakhi students. He congratulated all participants and wished the best for those representing Ladakh at the national level.

He also thanked the Education Department for organizing such events and providing students with invaluable platforms. Additionally, he advised parents to monitor their children’s activities, especially on mobile devices, to detect and address any early signs of addiction. He noted that the quality of education in government schools has improved significantly and that students from these schools are now competing at various levels.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to position holders in both categories: role play and folk dance. Mementos were also presented to the jury members and distinguished guests as tokens of appreciation.
