CEC Dr Akhoon chairs meeting to address infrastructure issues on 0-6 km stretch
Kargil, November 02, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting with the General Manager, NHIDCL to discuss infrastructure issues affecting residents within the initial 0-6 km stretch of Kargil.
Executive Councillor, Urban Development, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Administrator, Municipal Committee Kargil, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil, Executive Officer, MC, Kargil, and General Manager, NHIDCL attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the CEC focused on various concerns raised by residents, including drainage, blacktopping, and other essential projects being executed by the NHIDCL.

Dr Akhoon instructed urgency of completing these tasks to ensure residents benefit from improved infrastructure. He emphasised the importance of quality in blacktopping works. He instructed GM, NHIDCL, to expedite the blacktopping of roads, setting a target for completion by the next week.
Additionally, the CEC highlighted ongoing drainage issues, particularly from Titichumik to Raj Niwas, urging that sectoral coordination between various departments be prioritized to ensure effective execution.
For a practical approach to resolving these issues, Dr. Akhoon directed the ACR, Executive Officer MC, and GM NHIDCL and Councillor Baroo-Minjee to conduct joint site inspections to review the current status and take immediate corrective actions where necessary.
The General Manager NHIDCL assured the CEC that the pending blacktopping and other maintenance work will be completed by the stipulated timeline.
