GDC Drass conducts workshop on 21st Century Employability Skills
Kargil, August 29: Government Degree College Drass today conducted a workshop on “21st Century Employability Skills” to create awareness among its faculty. Stanzin Stamdin, Assistant Professor of English, who recently attended the Faculty Orientation Program, conducted by the Wadhwani Foundation on 21st Century Employability Skills, gave a detailed presentation about the aims and objectives of the course structure.
He talked at length about the Wadhwani Foundation, its role in accelerating economic development in emerging economies through large-scale job creation and job fulfilment. Further, he spoke about Wadhwani Foundation’s crucial role in empowering millions of youth by providing different skill courses free of cost at different institutes of India.
Pertinently, GDC Drass is going to start the Employability Course: Intermediate on trail basis to its 5th Semester students very soon.While emphasizing about the importance of inculcating skill courses among students, Stanzin said that basic core skills are needed in nearly every job these-days and employers always look for the general skills while recruiting.

He also emphasized that in addition to teaching students about their particular courses, teachers also need to prepare their students for the workforce by teaching them the skills needed in various sectors.The workshop witnessed an enthusiastic participation of the entire faculty and saw healthy discussions among all participants. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks presented by Manzoor Hussain, Assistant Professor Chemistry.
