Kargil, July 18: The Cyber Unit of Kargil, Ladakh Police today organized an awareness program on cybercrime for members of Young Artists of Kargil and students from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Kargil.

The program was aimed to educate youth about growing risks and challenges associated with cybercrimes and to equip them with necessary knowledge and skills to stay safe online.

The program held at the SAI premises in Kargil, witnessed enthusiastic participation from aspiring artists and young sports enthusiasts.

Led by a top expert Inspector James Dechen from the Cyber Unit Kargil, Ladakh Police, the event included engaging presentations, practical demonstrations and open discussions on various cyber security threats prevalent in today’s digital era.

The awareness program covered a wide range of topics, including online frauds, social media dangers, identity theft, cyberbullying, phishing and the importance of secure passwords.

The participants were also introduced to preventive measures and best practices for maintaining cyber hygiene and protecting their personal information.

With technology becoming an integral part of life, the risk of falling prey to cybercrimes has gone up. The program aimed to bridge the knowledge gap among the youth and empower them to identify and report cybercrimes effectively.

Inspector James Dechen said education is key to combat cybercrimes. “By conducting such awareness programs, we are able to reach out to the youth and equip them with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape safely. We aim to build a safe cyberspace for our community by promoting responsible online behaviour,” he said.

The program was highly appreciated by the attendees who expressed their gratitude towards the Cyber Unit Kargil for organizing such an insightful event.

“We gained valuable knowledge and feel more confident in safeguarding ourselves from cyber threats,” said one of the participants.

The Cyber Unit Kargil is committed to fight cybercrimes and promote a safe digital environment for citizens. The awareness program is one of many initiatives taken by the unit to educate and empower the community against cyber threats.
