Kargil, Ladakh – June 2, 2025 – Authorities in Kargil have released the official pricing for live sheep and goats designated for Qurbani (sacrifice) during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha in 2025. The decision, formalized following a meeting led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, establishes standardized rates applicable throughout the Kargil District and the Zanskar sub-division in anticipation of the religious festival.
The newly announced rates specify that Goat/Sheep of the Delhi Wala/Rajasthani breed will be priced at Rs. 360/= per kilogram of live weight in Kargil District and Rs. 370/= per kilogram in Zanskar. For the Bakarwal breed of Goat/Sheep, the fixed rates are Rs. 310/= per kilogram live weight for Kargil District and Rs 320/= per kilogram for the Zanskar region. These prices are set to be effective for the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations in 2025.
To ensure transparency and prevent unfair pricing, it has been mandated that all locations selling animals for Qurbani must clearly exhibit these officially determined rates for public viewing. This measure aims to empower buyers with information and promote fair transactions during the purchase of sacrificial animals.
