Kargil, May 21, 2025: In a significant administrative development, the University of Ladakh has announced the implementation of a five-day working week, effective from June 1, 2025.

The new schedule, which applies to all campuses and affiliated colleges of the University, designates Monday to Friday as working days, while Saturday and Sunday will be observed as weekly holidays.

The decision follows internal recommendations aimed at improving academic efficiency, staff well-being, and institutional productivity. It reflects the University’s commitment to aligning with progressive educational practices in higher education institutions across the country.

Under the revised schedule, daily working hours will be from 09:30 AM to 05:30 PM, with a lunch break from 01:00 PM to 01:30 PM. University buses will depart from the campus at 05:40 PM. The arrangement will be implemented initially for a period of six months.

While regular academic and administrative activities will be confined to weekdays, the University has clarified that extracurricular events, seminars, and conferences may be conducted on Saturdays, as necessary.
