Kargil Health Needs Addressed with Central Health Ministry
Kargil, May 31, 2025 – Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon yesterday visited the Central Ministry of Health and met various officers and Bureaucrats to discuss various issues related to the health sector of Kargil.
During the visit, the CEC met Additional Secretary, Medical Education, Vinod Kotwal (IAS), Additional Secretary, National Health Mission, Govt. Of India, Aradhna Pathak (IAS), Joint Secretary Health, Government of India, Mnashvic Kumar (IAS) besides various Directors of the department.
During the meeting threadbare deliberation and discussions were followed where the CEC raised various important issues related to the health sector in Kargil.

The CEC requested to increase the strength of present District Hospital Kargil by more than existing 100 beds and added that necessary infrastructure and man power should be done to take the existing hospital to a 200 bed hospital.
During the meeting, the CEC also raised the issue of the upgradation of PHCs, NTPHCs, and AAMs to strengthen the grassroots health infrastructure in the district.
The CEC also discussed the need to increase the number and strength of AAMs earlier called medical sub centres by adding 24 sub centres to meet the demand of the public across the rural areas of Kargil.
Asserting the need of a Multi Super-Speciality Hospital (Mini AIIMS), the CEC said that the Super Speciality Hospital is the need of the hour and the Ministry should explore ways and means for its establishment so that such services can be provided to the patients in the district.
CEC Dr Jaffer also voiced for establishment of a nursing college in Kargil district with requisite man power and infrastructure.
