Various delegations called on Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra in Kargil

Kargil, January 06, 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) was called on Monday by several delegations from different areas of Kargil at Raj Niwas, Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Shree Ram R. were present during the meetings.

A delegation of Doctors/Consultants working in Health Department Kargil called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and requested for promotion to senior consultants. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the case will be examined as per established norms.

A delegation led by President of All Kargil Travel Trade Association, Mohd Ali raised various issues regarding the promotion of tourism in Kargil district including smooth flow of tourists at Zojila during tourism season, develop a sustainable tourism strategy and empanelment of dedicated consultant for Kargil, promotion of Hindu religious sites of Kargil in Prayagraj Kumbh Mela-2025 and equal share for promotion of tourism in the Mela for both Leh and Kargil. 

In reply of smooth flow of tourists at Zojila, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor said that the tourism help desk will be established at Sonamarg.

About the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela-2025, the HLG said that equal number of tourism stakeholders from Kargil and Leh will participate and both will promote the tourism of Ladakh and not only Leh and Kargil.

Regarding the empanelment of consultant for the promotion of tourism, the HLG said that for tourism promotion, an establishment of a tourism promotion agency for Leh and Kargil be looked into. 

A delegation of home guard employees also called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and raised the issue of pending salaries since August 2024.

In this regard, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor was briefed by Additional Secretary, Finance/Director, Accounts & Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali that their salaries will be released after the budget session.

A delegation of contractual lecturers also called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor urging for the inclusion of history subject in all Higher Secondary Schools of Ladakh and make B.Ed. as mandatory qualification for lecturer posts.

Regarding the inclusion of history subject, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor directed Secretary Education, Bhanu Prabha (IAS) to examine the matter. 

About the making B.Ed. mandatory for the lecturer posts, the Secretary Education informed that as per established norms, the B.Ed. will be made compulsory for lecturer posts.

A delegation of G-I, G-II teachers called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and requested for conversion of G-I, G-II teachers into General Line teachers. 

In this regard, the Secretary Education informed that the matter is under examination.

A resident of Gonkha Kargil, Haji Ahsan Ali called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and raised the issues of the cafeteria at TFC Kargil, attachments of School Education employees from their original places of postings to other places, pending of his bills regarding the construction of half a kilometre road of Stakchey-Gonkha road.

Regarding the cafeteria at TFC, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor strictly directed the SSP Kargil to enquire into the matter. About the attachments, the HLG strictly directed the Secretary Education, Bhanu Prabha (IAS) to enquire the matter and take necessary actions. Regarding pending bills, the HLG directed the DC Kargil to enquire the matter.

A delegation led by Councilor, Yourbaltak, Manzoor Hussain called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and presented a memorandum of demands including the compensation for the drought-hit area of Sodh and Sub Division status for Sodh.

Regarding the compensation of the drought-hit area of Sodh, DC Kargil informed that Rs 5 Lakh has already been disbursed while remaining funds are yet to be released by the Finance Department. 

Regarding the demand of Sub Division status, the HLG said that the matter will be examined as per the established legal provisions.

The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor also interacted with various other delegations and individuals from across the district including officials of various departments and other individuals seeking financial assistance. He gave a patient hearing to all their issues and said that their genuine demands will be looked into as per norms within specific time-lines.
