VoL Desk, May 03: A total of four candidates have submitted their nomination papers on the last day of filling the form on Friday before the Assistant Returning Officer at Tourist Facilitation Centre, Kargil. The Four candidates consist of independent candidates Haji Hanifa Jan backed by the district units of Congress and National Conference, Sajjad Kargili, Kacho Mohd Feroz and Ghulam Nabi Zia.

While filling the nomination form Haji Hanifa Jan was accompanied by a huge crowd of supporters and party workers of National Conference and Congress including Haji Asgar Karbalai, Qamber Ali Akhoon, Nasir Hussain Munshi, Feroz Ahmad Khan, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Agha Syed Mujtaba Mosavi among others.

Youth activist Sajjad Kargili was accompanied by his supporters including JUIAK member Shiekh Toha Shairy, President ALSWAJ, Mohd Hassanain, Ghulam Mohd Khan Silmo, among others.

While addressing to media Sajjad Kargili said that he is not contesting this election on behalf of any political party or religious institution but contesting as a hope for the young generations.

Responding to media queries he called it unfortunate that the members of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) did not consult its stakeholders to nominate a joint candidate. However, Haji Hanifa Jan has been proposed only by the Congress and NC. He further stated that the political parties while proposing their candidate assured to take all stakeholder on board, instead they should have done that much earlier.

He blamed the two Co-Chairmen of KDA for not convening a meeting of stakeholders to decide a joint candidature.

He said that a meeting was held with the JUIAK President today morning where he and Haji Hanifa Jan were called upon. During the meeting he gave an authority to the JUIAK president to either withdraw him or Haji Hanifa Jan. However, a decision in this regard is still awaited.

While addressing to the media questions he said that personally the JUIAK President Sheikh Nazir Mehdi could be in his favor but in the capacity of President JUIAK he has not announced his support yet.
