VoL Desk, August 04: In a recent tweet, the official handle of LG Ladakh (@lg_ladakh) emphasized that the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is more than just a government scheme; it’s a “Jan-Andolan,” a people’s movement, for securing one of the most critical resources for survival. During an Interaction Program with representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), LG Ladakh underscored the need to rise above political differences to ensure the effective execution of the JJM in the region.

Amidst challenging freezing temperatures and rugged mountain terrains, Ladakh’s dedicated efforts have brought about a remarkable transformation. With collaboration between government departments, councils, and PRIs, Ladakh has swiftly progressed from being categorized as a Low Performing State/UT in terms of JJM Scheme coverage to emerging as one of the Top Performing States/UTs in a remarkably short span of just two years.

Acknowledging this substantial progress, the High-Level Group (HLG) commended the efforts made thus far. The HLG urged all stakeholders, including village communities, to unite their efforts towards achieving the ambitious goal of saturating rural areas with 100% Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).

In a heartening gesture, the HLG presented Certificates of Appreciation to Sarpanches who have achieved the noteworthy milestone of 100% saturation of FHTCs in their respective villages. This recognition not only applauds their dedication but also serves as a motivation for further progress.
