Surge in Stray Dog Population in Baroo Village Raises Concerns among Residents
VoL Desk, May 09: Residents of Baroo village adjacent to Kargil town are distressed by the surge in the number of stray dogs, causing damage to crops and instilling fear in children, according to villagers today.
The Constituency Councillor, Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, along with the villagers of upper Baroo, gathered at the Baroo Khankah, village centre to raise their concerns with the media.
Speaking to Voice of Ladakh, an elderly woman expressed her worry that the increasing number of dogs posed a threat to the safety of children walking to the Madrasa and school early in the morning. She added that they had to accompany their children to school and Madrasa every day.

Councillor Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi highlighted that the residents had approached the Administration to take action, but no significant steps had been taken to address the issue. He urged the Administration to take immediate action to avoid any unfortunate incidents.
It is worth mentioning that in the past, there have been incidents where individuals have been attacked by dogs, including a tragic incident in Zanskar Sub-Division where an elderly woman lost her life after being attacked by dogs early one morning.

Why only so called Muslims behind animal cruelty. They are going against the teachings and sunnah of the prophet. Feed the animals and make them trust your humanity. Also effective sterlization will help control population for both human and animal as today’s kids are more dangerous than dogs.

1… AWBI guidelines 26.02.2015 nd amendments are very clear on the role of the state ../govt machinery on stray dog’s
2. ABC RULES 2001 is an initiative taken to control dog population by sterilization which is a myth nd failed..on ground pan India
3. The onus of providing shelter nd food lies with the local government machinery ….but reality is in a country that does not care for its people one cd imagine the effort on stray dogs..
Suggest locals down load the above circulars nd pressurize the system to act
