VoL Desk, Sep. 14: Municipal Committee, Kargil issued a regulatory for street vendors in Kargil to sell goods at a particular identified place and barred from market in a certain time, maintained the Vice-President Municipal Committee, Kargil in a letter to the Inspector Municipal Committee on September 12.

The street vendor namely Heena, Nitu, Narsee, Kajal, Shado, Hero, and Kavita are allegedly selling goods at various places in Kargil city. The VP instructed to shift them to MES Road.

The letter further maintained that no local and non-local street vendors are allowed in the Kargil town from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the evening. Any previous order in this regard were stand cancelled.

Speaking to Voice of Ladakh in this regard, the Vice president All Readymade & Footwear Association Kargil, Mohammad Hassan Tamanna said that the permission to street vendors in Kargil town is causing them huge loss in the main market working season. The Association was consistently complaining the authorities in this regard.

He further maintained that the working season in Kargil is very short and after opening of Zojila pass we see a huge influx of local street vendors that installs stalls in front of local shops. The shopkeepers are now paying a huge rent and other necessary charges that is added by loss because of the street vendors.

Hassan Tamanna further said that they are not against any one’s business but conducting business at the cost of another’s loss will not be acceptable.

The Vice-President MC said that the Municipal Committee has time to time made arrangement of specific place for local street vendors where they can perform transaction without any disturbance.
