LG constitutes Ladakh Pharmacy Registration Tribunal, Pharmacy Council
VoL Desk, April 11, 2022: The Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur has constituted Ladakh Pharmacy Registration Tribunal and Ladakh Pharmacy Council here on Friday.
In a notification issued by Health and Medical Education Department, Civil; Secretariat, UT Ladakh maintained that the Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh, hereby constitutes a State Tribunal to be called as “Ladakh Pharmacy Registration Tribunal”.
The Ladakh Pharmacy Registration Tribunal shall be a body consisting of Director Health Services, Ladakh as Member; Controlling Authority, Drugs and Food Control Organization, Ladakh as Registrar cum Secretary; Drugs Control Officer, District Leh and Kargil as Member.

The functions, duties and responsibilities of the Ladakh Registration Tribunal shall be as per the procedure prescribed in Pharmacy Act, 1948 (Act No. 8 of 1948).
In another notification, the Lieutenant Governor constitutes a State Pharmacy Council to be called as the “Ladakh Pharmacy Council”.
The “Ladakh Pharmacy Council “shall be a body corporate consisting of the Additional Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department as President, Director Health Services, Ladakh as Vice-President (ex-officio), Controlling Authority, Drugs and Food Control Organisation (ex-officio) as Registrar-cum-Secretary, Drugs Control Officer, Leh and Kargil as Members, Government Pharmacist, Sub-center Faroona Kargil as Member, President, Chemist & Druggist Association, Leh and Kargil as members.
After the same is published in the Official Gazette, the Council shall initiate process of registration of Pharmacists and nominate the Government Analyst under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940), ex officio, from any of the notified laboratories for Union territory of Ladakh.
Will elect 6 members, elected from amongst themselves by registered pharmacists of the Union territory of Ladakh after compilation of registration process, and elect one member elected from amongst themselves by Registered Medical Practitioners of Union territory of Ladakh, possessing registration certificate from any notified Medical Council or an elected member from Medical Council, Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, read the notification.
