KARGIL, March 19, 2022: The Directorate of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affair Ladakh today celebrated consumer empowerment week under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Drass subdivision.

Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affair, Tsering Motup was the chief guest on the occasion. He briefed the locals about the rights of consumers and also briefed about several welfare schemes being provided by the Union Territory Government.

On the occasion, locals pointed out some grievances to which the director gave a patient hearing and assured them that the problems will be solved as early as possible.

Addressing a public gathering, AD Food and Civil Supply, Muhammad Yousuf briefly explained the consumer Act 1946 and 2019. He also explained how the department is providing rice and wheat to different types of cardholders and their rates as well.

On the occasion, TLSC Chairman, Deldon Angmo explained the uses of the consumer protection Act and its different aspects for the public.

Besides BDC of upper and lower constituency, SDM Drass, SHO Drass and Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present on the occasion. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by BDC upper constituency, Noor Muhammad.
