Kargil Passengers suffer as flight cancelled from Srinagar, Jammu
JAMMU, APRIL 12, 2021: Hundreds of passengers, irked by the continuous cancelation of flights from Jammu to Kargil, returned hopelessly once again from the Jammu airport today.
Speaking to the Voice of Ladakh a passenger named Ghulam Mehdi said that the flight C-130 landed at the Jammu Airport but since morning it refused to airlift the passengers on the pretext that the weather is bad in Leh.
However at the same time many other private flights operated from Jammu to Leh. At the end, the flight flew without the passengers, citing orders from above. It seems that all these are a deliberate attempt to make the people suffer. There is no one to look after the concerns of general public, complained Mehdi.
Responding to the Voice of Ladakh correspondent Liaison Officer at Jammu Mohammmad Yousuf said that the flight has again canceled in Jammu. There are around 350 passengers who have issued tickets from for Kargil.
Yusuf further said that the flight is scheduled for tomorrow. Most of the passengers are aged, female, some with infants and children. The hot weather and wait for hours is adding to the sufferings of the people.
An Officer at Srinagar on the condition of anonymity said that there are 250 tickets issued to passengers. Another 100 are also in line to get ticket to fly from Srinagar to Leh.
He further said that the current passengers have been returned three times from the airport. The authorities are also mulling to provide a C-130 service to airlift the stranded passengers to Leh. However, the officer said that the C-130 flight will carry around hundred people and another 150 will be left behind.
There are patients, students and aged people who are suffering a lot. Their concerns have been added by the spread of Corona virus. The passengers also approached to the LAHDC and other authorities but all in vain.
The stranded passengers also wanted to get back to their home town before embark of Holy month of Ramazan.
