Secretary Ravinder Takes Stock of Developmental Works in Sports, PDD, A&SH Sectors in Kargil
KARGIL MARCH 06, 2021: Secretary Sports, PDD, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Cooperatives and Fisheries UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar on his 3 day to Kargil district took stock of the pace of progress of developmental works of the departments under his charge.
Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali, Executive Engineer REW Gulzar Hussain Munshi, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr Fida Hussain, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shakar Chiktan Kacho Asgar Ali Khan, General Manager Industries District Industries Centre Iftikhar Ahmad, Project Director KREDA Kacho Ahmad Khan, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Kargil Dr Zakir Hussain, besides other concerned officers accompanied the Secretary during the tour.
The Secretary visited Shakar Chiktan, Shargole, Pashkum, Kurbathang, Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang, Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Kargil, Indoor Stadium Kargil and Poultry Farm Kurbathang.
At Shakar Chiktan, the Secretary held a meeting with the concerned officers to assess the status of sports infrastructure in the sub division where he was briefed about the on-going sports infrastructure works at the Higher Secondary, High and Middle schools and the status of the construction of Ice Hockey rinks.
The Secretary visited the site of the on-going construction works of Ice Hockey Rink at Takmatan at a cost of Rs 25 lacs under Special Development Package (SDP) and stressed the officers concerned to ensure completion of the remaining works within the stipulated time frame.
Secretary Ravinder directed for maximum expenditure on all works and added that funds under SDP during the next financial year will be allocated as per the progress achieved on works during this year’s plan. He also directed that the block and sub divisional level ice hockey rinks should be separately constructed and proper changing rooms and washrooms should be available for the players.
The Secretary also directed the DYSSO Kargil that Archery infrastructure at all high schools of the district should be developed for which Rs 2.50 lacs will be allocated per school.
As regards to the sports infrastructure development works going on at high schools of the Shakar Chiktan Sub Division, the Secretary was informed that extension of playgrounds is under process at Bodh Kharboo and Khangral High Schools.
The Secretary Sports directed the concerned officers that DPR for the projects should be made in a way that 5 to 10 % of the works are allocated for minor infrastructure and equipments.
Interacting with the Physical Teachers, the Secretary directed them to work with dedication to hone the skills of students in sports which brings career opportunities and in which the students have the potential to excel in.
The Secretary also visited Samrah village where he instructed the concerned officials to formulate DPR of playfield under block share. He also visited Ice Hockey Rink Wakha being constructed under SDP and directed the concerned officers to complete the project well in time.
The public delegation on the occasion demanded for a submersible hand pump for Ice Hockey Rink Wakha to which the Secretary assured to provide additional funds.
During his visit to Sports Stadium Shargole, the Secretary directed the concerned officers to consult the engineers of the Sports Council before starting works of the stadium.
The Secretary also visited the site identified for establishment of Astro Football Turf at Pashkum and International Ice Hockey Stadium at Airport Road. He directed the officers to increase the seating capacity of the Ice Hockey stadium and approach consultants for its construction and to ensure provision of separate entry gates for VIPs and spectators.
The Secretary also visited the KREDA Hydroponics Green House Site at Kurbathang where he directed the Project Director, KREDA to construct it in a slanting manner. He also visited the site identified for establishment of 50 MW solar power plant with battery support system for power back up in winter months by KREDA at Pashkum for which 316 acres of land has been identified.
The Secretary directed the Project Director, KREDA to process the development of the solar power plant in developer mode by consulting the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), ONGC and NTPC.
Later, the Secretary along with the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve visited the Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang where he directed the concerned officers prepare proposal for construction of change rooms, wash rooms and other facilities for players. He also visited the Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium and Indoor Stadium Kargil and gave directions to develop infrastructure for different sports and games in these stadiums.
The Secretary also visited the Poultry Farm Kurbathang and took stock of its overall functioning.
