Feroz Khan Inaugurates Newly Renovated Syed Mehdi Memorial Auditorium Hall
KARGIL, MARCH 16, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated the newly renovated and refurbished Syed Mehdi Memorial Auditorium Hall Kargil here today.
The renovation and refurbishing works of the Auditorium Hall has been executed at a cost of Rs 2 crore 70 lacs under the Special Development Package (SDP).
Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Armaan, Executive Councilor for Works and Information, Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, President MC Kargil, Zaheer Hussain Babar, Director Tourism Ladakh Kunzes Angmo, ADC Kargil Tsering Motup among other district officers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Khan congratulated the executing agency Public Works Department (PWD) Kargil and the concerned contractor for completing the work in a short span of time despite the COVID-19 pandemic. He also congratulated the people of Kargil for getting such a well equipped and sophisticated auditorium at the center of the Kargil town and expressed optimism that this will become a platform to organize high level national events.
CEC Kargil also made special mention of the former Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary for his efforts in the execution of works on the renovation and refurbishing of the auditorium.
The CEC further said that this auditorium is still not enough to fulfill the contemporary international standards and requirements of the district to organize events of international importance, therefore in future there is need of minimum 1000 capacity auditorium in Kargil. He said that requisite measures will be taken in this regard and also stressed that further beautification that includes the compound walling, tiling of the premises, face liftingand other necessary requirements should be fulfilled on priority, adding that the concerned department should ensure the right utility of the auditorium and only quality level programmes should be organized here.
The CEC along with the other dignitaries also released the Annual District Statistical Handbook of District Kargil for the year 2019-2020, a handbook titled District Kargil at a Glance and Village Amenity Directory of Kargil District by the District Statistics and Evaluation Office, Kargil on the occasion.
Earlier, delivering the welcome speech, Assistant Director, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak said that it is an important day in the history of Kargil when a newly renovated and refurbished auditorium hall with modern sophisticated facilities has been inaugurated by the CEC Kargil. While briefing about the various facilities been set up at the auditorium, he said that the hall is equipped with sophisticated sound, lighting and projection system. Moreover, hot and cold central heating system has also been installed besides other requisite facilities.
Meanwhile, various films were also screened on the occasion that included a documentary on Maitreya Rock Statues of Kargil and Hundurman- Museum of Memories by DIPR Kargil and Rzongi Kor-The Mysterious Cave of Kargil by Rzongi Kor Team and Zakir Hussain Jaffri.
Moreover, a play on the theme, importance of organic farming and traditional agricultural practices was also presented by Ranthag Theater Group and cultural performances were also presented by Rangskit Cultural Group Fokar, and Mendoq Tsar Dramatic Club Hardass coordinated by DIPR, Kargil.
Later, the moderator of the event Nasiruddin Khafee on behalf of PWD Department and DIPR Kargil thanked the dignitaries and guests for gracing the event.
