District Administration intensifies market checking in Kargil Town
KARGIL, MARCH 31, 2021: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, a market checking squad of the District Administration conducted a surprise checking in Kargil Town here today.
The market checking squad comprised of the Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Salim Wazir, officers of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Kargil, Food Safety, Kargil, Police personnel and Inspectors of Municipal Committee, Kargil.
During the course of the inspection, which was conducted for the second time during the last 4 days, the team checked a total of 22 shops from New Bus Stand to Od Taxi Stand where 9 shops were fined on spot for violating the set norms of food safety.

A total fine of Rs 5400 was realised from the 9 shops and expired edible items worth Rs 37226 were seized and destroyed on spot.
The team also thoroughly checked the charging of rates and other set standards and the shopkeepers and traders were asked to abstain from selling expired items besides to display the rate lists prominently at their establishments besides maintaining proper cleanliness.
Meanwhile, the District Administration Kargil has issued specific directions to the concerned officers to carry out frequent inspections and checking of the markets throughout the district so as to curb overcharging, black marketing and sale of expired and sub-standard food items.
The Administration has also appealed all traders to avoid black marketing or hoarding and warned of stern action against the violators under rules.
