KARGIL, MARCH 15, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve sanctioned 84 cases under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme during a meeting of the District Level Sanction Committee held at DC Office here today.

District Programme Officer ICDS, Kargil Nargis Banoo, Block Development Officer (BDO) Kargil Shabir Hussain, District Social Welfare Officer Aga Syed Jamal, Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil Sajjad Hussain besides other members of the District Level Sanction Committee were present in the meeting.

The District Social Welfare Officer Kargil informed the Deputy Commissioner that during the current financial year, 93 applications of marriage assistance were received by the Department of Social Welfare out of which financial assistance for 84 girls qualify for benefits under the scheme. It was further given out that the assistance in favour of the beneficiaries has been proposed as per the 2012 survey conducted for poor girls.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Kargil also sanctioned 34 cases under the National Family Benefit Scheme which provides a lump sum family benefit of Rs 20,000 to the bereaved household in case of the death of the primary bread winner irrespective of the cause of death. The scheme is applicable to all the eligible persons in the age group of 18-64 years.
The DC asked the concerned officers to put in dedicated efforts to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries avail the benefits of the said schemes in the district.

He also stressed for completion of all related formalities within the stipulated timelines as per the requisite guidelines.

Pertinent to mention that the State Marriage Assistance Scheme covers poor girls who fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) that receive 25000 cash and cost of 5 gram of gold.
