DC Kargil reviews Preparations for Commemoration of 75th Year of Independence
KARGIL, MARCH 05, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements regarding different activities to be organized by different departments in the district as a part of the celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence.
Chief Education Officer (CEO), Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Kacho Muhammad Ali Khan, District Information Officer/ District Cultural Officer Muhammad Ali Tak, In Charge Principal Degree College Kargil Dr Javed Naqi besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that as a part of the celebrations of the 75th year of India’s Independence, different programmes are being organized across the states and UTs to recall the contributions of the freedom fighters for the independence of the country. He further said that the events starting from 12th March, 2021 will continue for 75 weeks till the Independence Day on 15th August, 2021.
Meanwhile, the officers of the concerned departments apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the schedule of activities to be held by the respective departments on the inaugural ceremony and the subsequent weeks.
It was decided during the meeting, that the main inaugural function will be held at Auditorium Kargil where different programs including the pledge taking ceremony, talks, film screening, plays, skits, colorful multi-ethnic cultural programmes, lectures and other variety programmes on 75 years of Independence will be held to mark the day.
It was further decided that an archery exhibition match and freedom run from Tourist Facilitation Center Biamathang to Auditorium Kargil involving the participation of district officers and students will be organized on the inaugural day, adding symposia and seminars on independence will also be organized in different schools during the day.
As regards to different activities planned for the subsequent weeks, the CEO, Kargil informed that every month shall be dedicated to a freedom fighter and seminars, symposiums, rallies, plays, etc. shall be conducted at every school in the district, adding an essay competition shall also be launched at the school level followed by block and district level. He also informed that an educational festival on the theme Azadi ka Amrut Mohotsav shall be organized which will include different activities like sports, cultural programs, conventions, and motivational talks by the personnel of the armed forces, scientists and social activists.
Meanwhile, In Charge Principal Government Degree College informed that the activities planned will include plantation drive and lectures on biodiversity, launch of certificate course on non-violent communication, weeklong career mela, exhibition of local arts and crafts, sports week, seminar on cultural heritage, workshop on student welfare schemes of the Government to India and other related programs.
Regarding the activities to be held by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kargil the concerned officers informed that seminars on independence of India, services and sacrifices of the defence forces since 1947, ex-servicemen rally to disseminate information about various welfare schemes for widows and ex-servicemen, various activities related to the Armed Forces Flag Day including tributes to the defence forces for their valour and sacrifices, dissemination of information to the general public regarding the armed forces in the country, and other related events will be held.
Meanwhile, the District Cultural Officer Kargil while informing about the proposed activities of the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil said that various poetic symposia, seminars in Urdu, English and local vernacular languages, children’s music, and painting competitions, theater and folk music workshops and training programmes besides other cultural and literary activities based on the themes of independence and patriotism will be organized as a part of the celebrations.
