Lalok Beats Ladakh Scouts to Emerge Champions
Leh/ Jan 31: The Lalok team beat Ladakh Scouts 4-3 goals in the thrilling final UT-level match of 2nd Khelo India Ladakh Winter Games Men’s Ice Hockey Championship 2021 at the Ice Hockey Rink, NDS Sports Complex today.
Member of Parliament (MP), Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated the final match of the championship organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC), Leh.
Secretary, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Ravinder Kumar; Executive Councillors, LAHDC, Leh- Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Ghulam Mehdi and, Stanzin Chosphel; Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), UT Ladakh, Preet Pal Singh and Commandant Officer (CO), Ladakh Scouts Regiment Centre (LSRC), Colonel Rinchen Dorjay, were among those present during the final match.

MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal lauded the performances of the players and gave credit to the concerned departments and officials for organising the event. He thanked the Government of India (GoI) for its continuous support in promoting sports in UT Ladakh under various schemes such as Khelo India, and its help to make ice hockey a recognised sport in the country. He shared that initiatives are being taken at the block, sub-division and district levels to promote and popularise ice hockey by constructing ice hockey rinks and providing necessary equipment.
MP Ladakh also mentioned that the proposed multi-purpose sports complexes in both Leh and Kargil districts would be constructed on time. He assured that sports infrastructure and equipment would be provided in schools at all levels to promote and encourage sports in Ladakh. He also appreciated the support of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in promoting winter sports and winter tourism in the region.
Prizes and trophies were given to players and the officials of the District Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and Ladakh Winter Sports Club (LWSC).
