EC Chandan Active Case Finding Survey for TB in Kargil
Kargil, February 10, 2021: Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan flagged off month long Tuberculosis Active Case Finding (ACF) Survey under TB Harega Desh Jeetega at TB Center Kargil here today.
The survey has been launched by the District Tuberculosis Control Society Kargil and the the aim of the survey is to find out the missed cases of TB during the COVD-19 pandemic during the year 2020 which is about 30% to 40% of TB notification rate like other parts of the country.
Chief Medical Officer Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, In Charge Medical Superintendent Dr Fatima Nissa, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Fatima Banoo, Block Medical Officer Kargil Dr Liyaqat Ali Khan, other officers of Health Department Kargil along with paramedical staff of District TB Center Kargil were also present on the occasion.

It was informed on the occasion that the areas selected for ACF survey are Silmoo Colony and Haidary Mohalla Kargil, adding that the workers working at various workshops between Biamathang to Petrol Pump area are also giong to screened by the medical team during the survey period.
It was further given out that the team will visit each and every household of these areas to screen the presumtive TB cases.
The ACF survey has been implemented under NTEP program since 2018, and in Kargil District under this survey from 2018 to 2020, a population of 41,220 has been covered till date.Out of these, a population of more than 29000 has been screened out of which cases detected has been 12 by CBNAAT and smear microscopy.
Furthermore, out of the total cases detected, cure rate has 99% and death rate is 1%.
Meanwhile, the EC Health and District TB Officer Kargil requested the general public to extend proactive cooperation to the medical team during the survey period so that we can eliminate TB like other parts of India by 2025.
