Kargil/ Dec. 28/ News Desk: District Congress Committee (DCC), Kargil celebrated the 136th foundation day of Indian National Congress at party head office, here in Kargil on Monday. Senior party leaders and workers attended the function despite bone chilling cold weather of the area.

While addressing party leaders and workers DCC President Nasir Munshi said “this moment will help the party workers to understand the greatness of Congress. INC has been at the forefront in the efforts to forge a secular, democratic and united India; an India which is a world leader in all fields and has always put India first despite all odds and obstacles. The INC fought for and won India’s independence, forged the constitutional idea of India, built up the nation from one of the poorest (when India gained independence) in the world to a global superpower”.

President DCC further stated that after independence, Congress has created India from zero. Through the Green Revolution, India became self-sufficient in food production.

“Congress party always supported farmers. Now the fascist forces are selling all public sector enterprises envisaged by Jawaharlal Nehru. The central government is pledging the agriculture sector to corporate. The farmers of the country are protesting against the government,” Munshi added.

Mr. Munshi urged the party senior leaders and workers that they should stand with farmers protesting in the country.

Others who attended the party foundation day includes Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad Ansari Councilor Barsoo constituency, Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi Councilor Baroo Minjee Constituency, Issa Ali Baba, President Panchayat Coordination Committee, Kargil. Haji Mohammad Ali Shargole, former councilor, Shabir Ahmad Shah senior congress leader, Senior party leader Mohammad Subhan Jaffery and senior worker Tsering Tarpo.
