LG Ladakh gets power under 2 more central laws

The President of India has empowered the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Union Territory to exercise the powers and functions discharged by the “state government “and the “appropriate government” under two more laws.

The Union Home Ministry has issued two separate notifications to empower LG Ladakh to exercise the powers and functions of “the appropriate government” and  “the state government” respectively under “the Minimum Wages Act, 1948” and “the Poisons Act, 1919”.

High Court dismiss plea to make Hindi the official language of J&K and Ladakh

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh last week dismissed a petition seeking to make Hindi the official language in the two Union Territories, Bar and Bench reported on Friday.

On October 28, a bench comprising Chief Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul observed that it fell within powers of the executive to designate official languages, Live Law reported.
