Three Mohalla Study Centres Inaugurated in Saliskote under CCDA 2024–25
Kargil, June 25, 2025 – In a significant step towards promoting community-based education and developing a vibrant reading culture in rural Kargil, three Mohalla Study Centres were inaugurated at Saliskote under the Community-Centric Developmental Approach (CCDA) for the year 2024–25.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Hon’ble Executive Councillor for Revenue and Acting Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, as the Guest of Honour.
The newly established centres are Al Reza Study Centre, Thangkhore, Al Zahra Study Centre, Goungma, and Al Mehdi Study Centre, Thangchoqs, all in Saliskote.

The event began with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran by Nawaz Ali, a Class 10 student from Government High School Saliskote. The welcome address was delivered by Hon’ble Councillor of Saliskote Mohd Sajjad Khan, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and especially extended greetings to Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, on his recent appointment as Deputy Commissioner of Kargil.
Following the ceremonial ribbon cutting at Al Zahra and Al Mahdi Centres, the program culminated with the inauguration of the Al Reza Study Centre at Thangkhore.
The Chief Guest, Kacho Mohammad Feroz, commended the initiative as a “major leap toward building a culture of reading and nurturing a generation of enlightened minds.” He appreciated the proactive leadership of Councillor Mohd Sajjad Khan and encouraged the community to take full advantage of these centres.
In his brief but impactful address, DC Kargil Shri Rakesh Kumar congratulated the Councillor and the people of Saliskote for this grassroots educational initiative. He emphasized the importance of utilizing such reading rooms to cultivate academic excellence and foster a supportive learning environment.
The program concluded with prayers and a vote of thanks offered by Agha Syed Kazim Sabiri, Imam-e-Jummah of Saliskote. He expressed deep gratitude to both the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour for their visit and lauded their commitment to community welfare. He also acknowledged Councillor Sajjad Khan’s efforts in establishing the study centres, upgrading the High School Saliskote to Higher Secondary level, and elevating the local health centre to a PHC with a Trauma Centre.
Other notable attendees on the occasion were Agha Syed Hassan Buzurg, Shri Waseem Ramzan, SDM Sankoo, Dr. Sarwar Shahzad, BDO TSG Block, Shri Asgar Ali, Naib Tehsildar TSG Block, among others.
