MP Ladakh Holds High-Level Meetings to Ensure Safety of Indian Nationals in Iran
Leh, June 16, 2025 – Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Mohd Haneefa Jan, held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi to discuss the safety and well-being of students, pilgrims, and residents from Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, and other parts of India currently in Iran.
He met with Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Pabitra Margherita, and Dr. Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary (PAI Division – Iran Incharge), Ministry of External Affairs, to raise concerns amid the ongoing developments in the region.
MP Haneefa Jan stated that the Ministry of External Affairs, under the leadership of EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar, is closely monitoring the situation. He was assured that Indian nationals are being relocated to safer areas and all precautionary and logistical arrangements are in place to ensure their security.

“We are also in constant communication with the Indian Embassy in Iran, which is actively supporting and coordinating with those affected on the ground,” he said.
He further informed that he has urged the government to prepare for a safe and timely evacuation if necessary. Both Union Ministers assured him that the Government of India remains fully alert and committed to the safety of all Indian citizens abroad.
MP Haneefa Jan affirmed that he will remain in close coordination with the concerned ministries and the Indian Mission in Iran to monitor the situation and extend all possible support.
