Nubra Delegation Seeks HLG’s Intervention for Crucial Bridge Project
Leh, 28 May, 2025: A delegation comprising councillors, political leaders, and community representatives from Nubra, led by Deputy Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Mr. Tsering Angchuk, and Former Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Mr. Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, called on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) to request HLG’s intervention in the inclusion of the Shatse Taknak Bridge over the Shayok River in the CRIF sanctions scheme.
The delegation emphasized the significance of the Shatse Taknak Bridge, stating that it is one of the most crucial infrastructure projects for the region and has been on the priority list of LAHDC Leh. Despite its importance, the bridge was not included in the recently announced projects under the CRIF sanctions scheme. Concerned about this exclusion, the delegation sought HLG’s support in ensuring its inclusion.
HLG sought clarity from the Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD) Shri Michael D’Souza, IAS, regarding the omission of the project and also sought an update on the way forward. In response, the Secretary PWD, through a phone call with HLG, informed that the project would be taken up in the supplementary proposal sought by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway from the LAHDCs.
